Transaero stopped flying

On 26 October, Russian airlines had stopped flying due air operator certificate revocation by Federal Air Transport Agency “Rosaviatsia”. The last flight Transaero had performed to Hong Kong airport at 21:05 and ceased to exist.

The purchased tickets on dates before December 15 will be served by other airlines. Money for the purchase tickets at later dates will be returned back to customers.

Transaero had accumulated a debt in the amount of 250 billion roubles (approx. $ 4 billion) and the government decided to carry out the company’s bankruptcy procedure.

At the moment, Aeroflot airlines are recruiting 6 thousand employees from Transaero personnel. In addition, Aeroflot will use 34 airplanes from company’s fleet. The destiny of other aircrafts remains unclear.
